3D Solutions specialises in the manufacture and 3D printing of components, alongside an e-commerce operation supplying hobby products. The company serves customers through both custom manufacturing and online retail, managing products from production through to order fulfilment and dispatch.
Operating before partnering with Makor Labs
Centralised production files and managed orders from receipt through to dispatch.
Order, production, printing and dispatch connected
Reliance on manual handovers and physical file transfers
The Challenge
When 3D Solutions approached Makor Labs, the company had been operating for around two and a half years. As its manufacturing and e-commerce operations grew, the processes used to manage orders, production and fulfilment had become increasingly difficult to coordinate.
Much of the workflow relied on manual processes. Orders and production information were communicated using sticky notes, while files moved between computers through USB drives, hard drives and third-party file transfer solutions. Each stage required someone to manually receive, transfer or communicate the information needed for the next stage.
This created a fragmented process across order receipt, production, printing and dispatch. 3D Solutions needed to centralise its files, improve order tracking and create a more connected fulfilment process that reduced its reliance on manual handovers.
What did
Makor Labs do
Makor Labs worked with 3D Solutions to replace its fragmented manual processes with a more connected digital workflow, focusing on how orders, production files and information moved through the business.
Order Management & Fulfilment — A centralised system was introduced to track orders from receipt through production, printing and final dispatch, giving the team greater visibility over each stage of fulfilment.
Cloud Storage & File Management — Production files were moved into centralised cloud storage, reducing the need for USB drives, hard drives and third-party file transfer services. Files could be accessed directly when required during production.
Workflow Automation — Key parts of the order and production process were connected, reducing manual handovers and creating a clearer flow of information between each stage of the operation.
The Results
- Orders, production, printing and dispatch connected.
- Production files accessible across the business.
- Orders tracked from receipt through production to dispatch.
- Reduced time between receiving, producing and dispatching orders.
- Reduced mistakes caused by manual handovers and fragmented information.
- Clear oversight of orders and production at every stage.
- Higher order volumes could be handled without the same increase in manual administration.
